Map Reading – Women’s introduction to Map Reading and Navigation with Joyful Outdoors
Learn practical navigation skills & have fun with like-minded women
A one-day course to give you the confidence and skills to safely navigate while outdoors in a lowland environment & learn about native trees & wild plants en route.
Expect lots of hands-on practice with opportunities to learn how to plan a route, read a map, use a compass, work out timings and orientate yourself when lost.
Foraging
As a passionate forager, I’ll also be sharing about the wild plants and native trees that we find on our route.

Don’t worry if you know nothing about maps or navigation – we’ll start from scratch. This course is fun, informal & ideal for beginners or those wanting to refresh their knowledge with a supportive instructor.
You don’t need to be super fit to participate, but you should be comfortable being on your feet most of the day with a day pack, and able to walk comfortably (but slowly) for around 5 hours.
Small Group for women only
Empowering women outdoors. This is a women only event.
